| Abstract: | Conservation of living organisms and ecosystems is an expensive business. However, the ecosystem services they provide offer far more value than what is invested. A paper published in Science maps out the positive impacts of conservation efforts and shows where money has been invested most efficiently and effectively in this field, guiding future investments which will allow conservationists to do more with less. UM's own Simone Cutajar offers insights from her integral role in the publication of this paper, which swiftly gained international acclaim. Featured in 92 news segments by 68 outlets just days after publication, it stands in the 99th percentile of all research outputs tracked, placing it in the top 5%. |
