| Abstract: | Healthy natural spaces are of the greatest significance to all living creatures. As humans, we depend on them: not only to survive physically, for example, through food production, but also to recreate mentally. With economic growth and a growing global population, the demand for ever-shrinking resources and habitats is also increasing. Climate change caused by humankind is negatively impacting natural spaces, even though these same spaces help protect the climate by storing CO2 . In many ways, nature provides resources that cannot be replaced by human efforts, making it imperative that we protect the climate, decrease our ecological footprint, and create sustainable foundations for life on the basis of renewable energies and climate-neutral economies. However, renewable energy installations need space, which is especially scarce in Malta. Let’s have a look at the German experience. [excerpt] |
