Abstract: In 1732 and again in 1735 the Austrian Servile Friar, theologian and historian Angelicus Maria Millier, published a history of the Order of St John (Von Ursprung, und glorreichen Progressen eines uralten Hoch-Adelichen Ritter-Ordens des Heil. Joannis Jerosolymitani, das ist, deren anjetzo genannten Rittern van Malta), ranging from its beginnings in Palestine up to the rule of Grand Master Antonio Manoel de Vilhena. The somewhat 'hidden' place of publication, that is in the fifth volume of his travelogue Peregrinus in Jerusalem, apparently prevented Miiller's work - with the exception of Albert Ganado and Joseph Schiro - from receiving attention by modern researchers on the history of the Order and Malta. The work also contains eleven copper plates of portraits of grand masters and several views and maps of Malta.
