Abstract: Insulin is an essential drug used in the treatment of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Depsite this, insulin remains one of the drugs that is disliked by most patients and health-care professionals. It is also a drug that is vey commonly implicated in medication errors. Pharmacists are in an ideal position to give the appropriate information on insulin to patients with diabetes mellitus every time that they come to the pharmacy. More and more patients are being switched to insulin analogues, which have greatly improved the management of diabetes.
