| Abstract: | Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is crucial in tackling food security challenges, climate change, and environmental degradation (Higgins et al., 2024). Agroecology, which integrates ecological principles into agriculture, offers a sustainable approach to transforming food systems (Gliessman, 2014). By fostering ESD competencies, individuals and communities are empowered to participate in sustainable agriculture, ensuring a resilient and just food system. ESD is one of four Critical Success Factors embedded within the “Proposal of a Bioregional Strategic Framework for a Sustainable Food System in Sicily” (Guarnaccia, P., et al., 2020). |
