| Abstract: | The two sectors which are bearing the brunt of the global financial crisis in Malta are the manufacturing and tourism sectors. A task-force was set up by government to develop tailor-made solutions to companies experiencing difficulties. A number of MNCs and SMEs have received financial aid. The present financial crisis is leaving little room for manoeuvring and unions in Malta have had to make compromises in order to safeguard jobs. [excerpt] |
