| Abstract: | This article reports on a seminar organized by the Malta Federation of Professional Associations (MFPA) exploring the public perception of professionals in Malta, with a focus on ethics, rights, and obligations. Drawing from quantitative research by Esprimi (n=501, December 2021–January 2022), it highlights shifting views: 25% associate professionals with health services, 21% with legal services, and younger respondents (18–24) emphasize education and specialization (highest mention at 24%). Key findings include high trust in mental health professionals' ethics (mean score 4.12/5), preferences for word-of-mouth recommendations, and expectations for ongoing training. Speakers, including MFPA President Ben Rizzo and market researcher Vanessa Bajada, discuss evolving societal roles, affordability concerns, and the need for soft skills to rebuild trust beyond traditional professions like doctors and lawyers. |
