Abstract

Wisdom does not always cohabit with meekness and a sweet manner for an appreciable length of time. Oftentimes, wisdom would also carry with it an acute awareness of the pain caused by malice and negligence. At times, wisdom may have found the ultimate solution for conquering adversity. There have arisen, throughout history, philosophers who have seen everything as bleak, for instance pessimists like Schopenhauer. Even philosophers who are realists and who strive to evaluate reality in its proper weight and to give it its proper hue as found in nature may, at times, fix their gaze on what is the bleakest of aspects. The greatest philosophers are those who, over the course of their lives, found a proper balance between what they wished for and what they sought to discover – measured against what they ultimately found to exist through their investigations into reality.
