| Abstract: | A good narrative is one that is sufficiently well structured to enable the listener or reader to personalise a story which may reflect a life event, a moral, or a basic human desire. The use of narrative to impart a moral and/or theological concept can be found in many of the traditional Judaic-Christian-Islamic tradition narratives reflected by the series of ‘midrash’ narratives of the Old and New Testament. These narratives help to transmit a moral and often theological value or concept that may otherwise be difficult to understand. Of course, values transmitted through storytelling need not necessarily be good values, and it is conceivable that storytelling that positively depicts violence, hatred, racism, etc, will also instil these negative feelings and values in the listener/reader.
