| Abstract: | In the Christian tradition the concept of sexual pleasure was central to the discussion on conjugal sexuality. Down through the centuries, almost all Fathers and prominent theologians who have dealt with the theology of marriage have discussed sexual pleasure in detail. Although this is an acknowledgement of the importance given to sexual pleasure, in general, the emphasis of the tradition was more on its negative aspects, leading to a sceptical approach to sexual pleasure.
