| Abstract: | The European Union’s new Union of Skills (UoS) initiative represents a turning point in Europe’s approach to workforce development. Built on four key pillars ─ reskilling and upskilling, skills portability, addressing the shrinking talent pool, and promoting quality jobs, it provides a structured framework for aligning education, training, and labour policies with the twin transitions: the digital and green economies. This contribution explores how Malta’s economic sectors, such as commerce, tourism, and hospitality, can use this European momentum to strengthen competitiveness, inclusion, and innovation.
