Abstract: The structural retrofitting of 20th-century built heritage presents unique challenges due to the materials and construction techniques used during this period. Reinforced concrete and masonry became dominant, requiring specific approaches for repair and restoration. One of the key concerns is the selection of appropriate repair mortars to ensure both durability and compatibility with the original structure. Inappropriate choices can lead to early degradation, mechanical instability, and loss of historical authenticity. Proposed research focuses on the durability and compatibility requirements of repair mortars for the structural retrofitting of 20th-century built heritage, ensuring material selection, performance assessment, and long-term durability.
