| Abstract: | Throughout this study, the main focus will be on Film-Induced Tourism in relation to Maltese residents and outbound locations. The dissertation aims to investigate the film industries of the United States, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, and to explore how these industries can collaborate to improve the tourism industry in the said locations. In this dissertation, the film industry will be investigated on how it can aid the tourism industry to improve in a filming location by the means of destination promotion. This will be done with the help of a number of academic studies by various authors such as Beeton (2004, 2005, 2006) and Hudson and Ritchie (2006), which will be discussed in the Literature review. Furthermore, the study will be followed by a quantitative study which will be distributed through social media and various Facebook groups in relation to travelling. The questions will be based on people’s travel preferences as well as asking if they are interested to ever travel to an iconic film location. Moreover, throughout this dissertation, the following question will be asked: “Is Film one of people’s motivations/inspirations to travel?” |
