Abstract: Eclecticism and the Baroque Revival are the two design currents which manifest themselves most clearly in the oeuvre of Abramo Gatt, the most gifted Maltese ecclesiastical designer of his generation. Gatt’s penchant for the amalgamation of different design sources for his decorative solutions allies him with contemporary design currents in Europe, and makes him a reflection of the larger international decorative arts and design context.
