Abstract

This educational presentation defines Continuous Professional Development (CPD) according to the EFRS as the ongoing process of maintaining, developing, and improving knowledge, skills, and competences for safe and effective radiographic practice. It explains how CPD drives career progression, employability, role expansion, and leadership opportunities while supporting patient-centred care. The session outlines formal, work-based, self-directed, and professional-engagement CPD activities; offers guidance on creating a realistic, goal-aligned CPD plan; and emphasises reflection (using the experiential learning cycle) and practical record-keeping for early-career radiographers.
