Abstract: The ECSO-MRI Safety Project has advanced the structured development of MRI safety educational content and competencies across Europe. This presentation presents key project outcomes, including the definition of core knowledge domains and practical competencies for the Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO) role. It highlights improvements in role clarity, professional recognition, educational alignment, and cross-border dialogue, while noting persistent gaps such as the lack of mandatory MRSO positions and inconsistent CPD requirements. Strategic next steps are proposed, including integration into formal education programmes, national policy endorsement, credentialing pathways, and continuous updating to match technological evolution. The presentation concludes that sustainability of the enhanced European MR safety environment now depends on implementation and harmonisation at national and European levels.
