| Abstract: | Around 1846, lace-making started to be organised on a professional basis. This meant that the production and selling of lace were fine-tuned, leading to improved efficiency, guaranteeing more profit for the lace-makers. In 1855, the Industry and Agriculture Exhibition, organised on the feast of Santa Marija, offered a platform for displaying fine examples of Gozo lace. [excerpt] |
