Abstract: The case of Dun Karm Cachia (1882–1950), a priest from Żebbuġ, Gozo, offers an illuminating lens through which to examine the interplay of religion, medicine, and social prejudice in British Malta during the early twentieth century. His life illustrates both the devotion of a contemplative priest and the devastating effects of medical suspicion, stigma, and sanitary regulation. [excerpt]
