Faculty of Laws Newsletter : May 2026 : issue 40

Abstract

This newsletter highlights recent academic, scholarly, international, and staff activities of the Faculty of Laws at the University of Malta. It announces the first issue of the Malta Journal of Legal Studies and invites submissions for its forthcoming edition. The report also documents visits and academic engagements involving Madam Justice Ramona Frendo and Judge Professor Eugene Buttigieg, including discussions on European Union law, judicial education, student opportunities at European institutions, and the jurisdiction of the General Court of the European Union. Further activities include the Faculty's annual administrative staff team-building event, a visit by a research delegation from the University of Gdansk to explore cooperation in sustainable development and Erasmus exchanges, the annual general meeting of the ICON-S Malta Chapter, and the publication of new works by members of the Faculty on the Maltese language and insolvency law. Collectively, the report reflects the Faculty's commitment to legal scholarship, international collaboration, student and staff development, professional engagement, and the dissemination of legal research.
