Curiosity has no age : rewriting what it means to grow older in Malta

Abstract

When we think of discrimination, gender or race usually come to mind first. Ageism – discrimination based on age – is often forgotten. The World Health Organisation's (WHO) Global Report on Ageism (2021) found that half of the world's population holds ageist attitudes towards older adults, including the damaging assumption that they are incompetent or unwilling to learn. At the University of Malta, in collaboration with Xjenza Malta and Esplora Interactive Science Centre, neuroscientist and dementia researcher Prof. Charles Scerri is proving that this is far from the truth.
