Abstract

The key component of this editorial is the post-graduate education and the progress achieved by medicine. The importance of keeping up-to-date and knowledgeable with medical education is further emphasized, also pointing out that the doctor who does not keep abreast with medical knowledge will become in a bad practitioner. Furthermore the importance of sharing knowledge and experience especially within an international scenario is vital, hence the need for continuing one`s education through refresher courses abroad. The “Medical news” section presents updates with regards to new achievements as attained by Maltese physicians locally and overseas, talks, seminars, and obituaries. Reference is also made to some films with medical topics, shown during the meetings of the Malta Branch of the British Medical Association. Additionally a list of the papers read at the annual clinical meeting of the the Association of Surgeons and Physicians of Malta is outlined. A short scientific “Publications List” and a book review are also provided. Of interest are several advertisements promoting the names of particular pharmaceuticals at that time, and an advertisement for membership which secures protection of professional interests.
