In this article, a glance at some medieval authors show that at least some individual features of understanding happiness have been developed quite early in our Christian tradition. By referring to two Canadian philosophers this paper wants to show that behind the presumed individualistic concept of happiness in our times, a deeply rooted quest to live a personal calling can be discovered.en_GB
