Challenges and opportunities in state primary schools of the Maltese Islands

Abstract

This long assignment presented here concerns the state of the Maltese government primary school libraries. It speaks about past history and the work that has been done, as well as the present situation, and what can be done in the near future. A survey was conducted with primary students, primary teachers and volunteers who take care or use various primary school libraries in order to get to know their ideas about library matters. One also finds a chapter detailing the situation of libraries in foreign countries, these being England, Canada and Brazil. The last chapter deals with what can be done here in Malta.
