Abstract: Ecballium elaterium (L.) A. Rich. is a plant species within a monotypic genus, which is abundantly distributed within the Mediterranean region. Owing to its traditional and scientific qualities, this plant was studied for its regeneration and secondary metabolite accumulation in culture. These aspects are considered in this review to determine the correlation between biomass accumulation and secondary metabolite production with different phytohormone treatments.
