Abstract: Few of us normally stop to ponder over what we hear or say. We therefore may pass or receive information without questioning its veracity. In fact, the more spectacular, preposterous or unusual the information the more it is repeated in order to draw admiration or attention, so psychologically essential for acceptance in the community. We do not expect the majority to question everything as this is equivalent to living in an unnatural community. However, with students of a certain standard of education and a background of reading, investigating and inquiring, consistency is expected in conversation and actions (as well a, in methods of dealing with everyday things). Statements must have la supporting explanation and should not be more unquestioned repetitions. Folklore consists of fact and fantasy, especially when it is handed down from ancient times, when superstition and the supernatural, mystery and miracles were more in fashion. Old beliefs die hard and we can still hear a lot of things which are not scientifically correct. We should respect folklore, even if it includes inexactitudes because it reflects, and helps us understand better, the background of our forefathers. However it is essential to understand that folklore and tradition are not gospel truths and they should be utilized only to reflect the past or present beliefs
