Abstract: Wilfred Owen was an English soldier and poet of World War One whose work exercised a major influence on the poetry of the nineteen-thirties. This article focuses on Owen's first hand experiences of war and the important meeting with Siegfried Sassoon, both of which ended up influencing his poetry.
