Abstract: Malta is one of the seven Europen countries where media literacy has for many years been a component of the school curriculum (European Commission, 2007). (Buckingham (2003) differentiates between the concept of media education (i.e. the process of teaching and learning about media) and media literacy (i.e. the knowledge and skills learners acquire). The Maltese model uses the term media educations as encompassing media literacy and as a result the term media education will be used throughout this paper.).
