Title: The performance practice and interpretation of a selection of soprano arias and works
Authors: Rapa, Antonella
Keywords: Operas -- Excerpts
Songs (High voice) with orchestra
Issue Date: 2017
Abstract: This dissertation serves as an accompanying document to a recital performed on Wednesday 15th June 2017. It tackles a selected repertoire for a developing soprano voice covering both operatic arias and art songs. In my first chapter I have focused on the operatic arias giving importance to every character that is being portrayed. In the following chapter I have discussed the art songs and explained the emotions that are being depicted in every song. In my final chapter I have focused on the process of self- analysis by addressing the challenges that I have found during my studies and my approach to eliminate them. The study and research of these works has been a journey of discovery in both my musical understanding, interpretation as well as my vocal technical development.
