Trombone music -- Analysis, appreciation
Composition (Music)
Issue Date: 2017
Abstract: This study traces the process that a trombone player undertakes in order to reach the desired level of performance. The compositions discussed in this dissertation are those performed in my final recital. They consist of works by Handel, Berlioz, Pryor, Hindemith, Nordheim and Sciberras. The selection was based on a variety of musical styles that have emerged over the past few centuries. The study also includes a historical, analytical, technical and personal overview of the pieces. The trombone emerges as a versatile instrument that can be adapted to a wide range of musical genres.
