Abstract: | The University of Malta Matriculation Examination in Systems of Knowledge is obligatory for every candidate seeking admission into the University from I October 1989. It is, therefore, necessary for schools preparing students for this examination to provide courses which afford insights into the different disciplines, making the student aware of their strengths and limitations. The syllabus was drawn up on the assumption that focusing only on the special fields covered by Advanced Level subjects promoted certain habits of mind to the exclusion of others and, if the School was to foster in our students a greater flexibility in adapting to changing patterns of work and life in a post-industrial age, it should afford them opportunities of going beyond the traditional limits of particular disciplines and gaining insight into different systems of knowledge. |
