Abstract: This research adopts a qualitative approach to explore the perspectives of professionals working in the mental health field with regard to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and the impact which it may have on the individuals diagnosed with it and their loved ones. Six face-to-face individual semi-structured with professionals working in the mental health field were conducted. The results from these interviews were analysed using the Interpretative Phenomenological Approach (IPA). The findings of this study suggest that individuals with OCD are severely affected by this condition asare their loved ones. Findings also suggest that the present lack of knowledge towards OCD leads to misconceptions amongst sufferers further hindering their quality of life. Psychoeducation, psychological intervention and effective treatment strategies are vital in such contexts.
