Abstract: 15 days prior to the infamous Target Date (the day the Maltese islands would have eventually succumbed to the rampant famine), the success of Operation Pedestal proved to be fundamental for the survival of the Maltese. Despite having traveled through a treacherous path to arrive to Malta, the Santa Maria Convoy ultimately saved the population.
