Abstract: A document recently unearthed by Assistant National Archivist Joseph Bezzina deals with a story that happened in Gozo during the 17th century. In 1615, there was an acute rainless period in Gozo. The regional government of Gozo during the rule of the Knights of St John, organised a pilgrimage of prayer from the Cathedral in the Citadel to the Immaculate Conception Chapel in Qala. The faithfuls' donations were given to an unmarried woman, a certain Gakbina, who received a large sum of money as a dowry.
