Abstract: Due to its efficient shop floor network, the General Workers' Union can be in a position to have access to information and can judge the prevalence of the drug problem in many places of work This paper proposes a two-partite commission - unions and employers - to develop and implement strategies to combat substance abuse among workers. The importance of attacking the substance misuse problem at its origins is also discussed.
