Abstract: Many individuals receiving treatment for substance misuse in Malta are engaged in some form of employment, implying that alcohol and drug related problems are likely to exist at the place of work. Prevention programmes should, therefore, be introduced at the place of work in an attempt to alleviate such problems. This paper assesses sedqa s Substance Abuse Free Employees (S.A.F.E.) Programme, a local work place-based prevention initiative. Suggestions for the amelioration of the Programme are also provided
