Abstract: Traditional face to face bullying has more recently taken a new dimension, this is that it is being conducted through the use of computer meditated equipment, this activity is being referred to as cyberbullying. Such activity is found to be more prevalent as people are communicating more than ever using technological tools and devices. This study aims to investigate what tools and technology is promoting bullying within the Maltese islands. Current study employed a qualitative approach were 6 participants from a number of entities that deal with cyberbullying were interviewed. This study found the definition of cyberbullying according to the participants involved is similar in nature irrespective of the absence of a legal definition of this phenomenon. Youths under 14 are not legally are not legally liable and social agencies lack the power and resources to intervene in these cases. No statistics were found to be kept by the entities involved. Maltese perpetrators of cyberbullying mainly did so in their name and did not hide behind some form anonymity. The bystander plays a key role in the mitigation of cyberbullying whether it persists or desists.
