Abstract: Art enthusiasts in Malta were ecstatic for the visit of internationally-renown art critic Cesare Brandi to the island in February 1952. His purpose for visiting was to inspect and advise on the restoration of the paintings by Mattia Preti in St. John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta.
