Abstract: Grima analyses the socio-economic effects of the Crimean War on Malta. The war (1853-1856) had substantial effects on the Maltese islands as Maltese boatmen and doctors, among other workers, were employed in Crimea. The author also delves into the inflation which subsequently hit Malta and the effects that this brought with it.
