As a promoter of dialogue and co-operation in the Mediterranean, the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies (MEDAC) has brought together in this book a broad array of thinkers and policy-makers from both shores of the Mediterranean to reflect on a diverse range of issues pertaining to the ‘Arab Spring’. This book focuses on the challenges facing the southern Mediterranean countries in transition and provides insight into policy measures that should be adopted to create a more stable and prosperous future. As the book editors advocate, after decades of limited political, economic and social interaction at an Euro-Mediterranean level, the time has come to seize the opportunity that this historic moment provides and build a new community based on common values and understanding.
