Abstract: Due to the scarcity of documents relating to pre-14th century Malta, Luttrell states that any surviving documents carry extreme importance. In this brief document, the author sheds light on Christian slavery in Malta in 1271. At the time, a Sicilian system of law was already in place in the Maltese islands and the public notary responsible for drawing up legal forms was Daniele de Danielis.
