Abstract: Bathing represents one of the major outdoor recreational activity for both local and tourist populations during the summer months. As with other recreational activities, various hazards are associated with bathing. The principal health hazards associated with bathing include drowning, injury and infection. This report deals explicitly with the microbiological quality of coastal marine recreational waters. Poor quality recreational waters is conducive of ill health. Thus the microbiological quality of coastal marine recreational waters is important from a public health perspective.
