Abstract: Since prehistoric times food was consumed by mankind for the development, reproduction and survival of the species. Since prehistoric times the law of the jungle, that is "The Survival of the Fittest", ruled the world amongst mankind and prehistoric creatures as well. Everyone tried to get the best food possible either by hunting, by fighting for food or eating what was available some times even the most disgusting things imaginable. The forms of the quest for food have greatly changed through time. During the years man learned how to prepare, and preserve food in the best ways possible prior to consumption. Man also learned that not all the food being consumed is healthy but some food can be harmful and injurious. In fact food safety awareness started to arise immediately after the first symptoms of food allergies. Since this event happened very early in time man could not define the problem itself and consequently find a solution for it. Early people believed that the 'Gods' punished mankind for their way of living. 1ms was the only explanation at that time for food allergies that occurred Throughout the years science evolved since man was curious to discover the explanation of the happenings around him. Many experiments were carried out to identify the causes of such mysteries. In order to share the knowledge gained, man has set up food safety organizations whose functions is to provide information about all kinds of foods, food ingredients, food processing including storage etc.
