Abstract: In this newspaper opinion piece, the writer evaluates the information that is currently available on the Gozo tunnel. In particular he argues that the tunnel’s Economic Cost Benefit analysis is fundamentally flawed. The ECB makes claims that are not sustained with technical information and, more crucially, important cost components have not been factored in. The article argues that the ECB’s claim that no public financing needed is incorrect. Moreover, the article expresses concern that there is no indication how the significant amount of tunnel inert waste will be disposed of.
