The Purpose of the study: To assess the effectiveness of retention of different denture adhesives and measure the patients` satisfaction and oral function with the dentures. Materials and Methods: Sixty edentulous patients were randomly categorised into four different groups composed of 15 patients each. The first three groups were given different types of denture adhesives (Corega, Fixodent and OlivaFix Gold) while the fourth group was the control. Patients were blinded regarding the type of adhesive given. Patient-based results were obtained by using three questionnaires (GOHAI, OHIP and Denture Satisfaction) at each time point of the study. Another questionnaire on denture adhesives was filled by the patients who were given the adhesive at each time at all the reviews of this study. Results: Patients were followed for an average of three months. During the observation period, it was observed that there was no significant difference between the types of adhesives (p>0.05). Moreover, according to patients` reported outcomes OlivaFix Gold showed the greatest improvement in QoL (p=0.030) when compared to the other denture adhesives. Conclusions: Within the limitations of the study, we observed that there was no significant difference between the types of adhesives. In addition to this, patient reported outcomes suggested that denture satisfaction and QoL in terms of OHIP was greater with patients who tried the adhesive rather than without the adhesive. OlivaFix Gold seemed to show the greatest improvement in QoL of the patients when compared to the control.en_GB
