Abstract: Research Purpose: The aim of this research is to identify the effects of different emerging technologies are leaving on the banking industry, especially on the Maltese banks. We will also get a better understanding of how emerging technologies are shaping the world and how they are being viewed from different experts. The research will eventually help us understand if disruption is happening and how this should be tackled. Research Questions and Methodology: Face to face interviews were used to gather primary data from both banks and Government experts. The information gathered is examined and assessed together so that research questions are answered. General Findings: From the data gathered it was established that disruption is happening, but it is still in its infant stage as emerging technologies are not yet being embraced by banks. Certain emerging technologies are more likely to be accustomed than others within banks, as some of which are already being used. The Government is more inclined for companies implementing the use of these new technologies unlike banks which are showing more resistance.
