Abstract: | Organisations are now made up of a multigenerational workforce, opening up many challenges that business leader’s face. The aim of this study is to identify what impact Millennials and Generation X have on employee retention strategies within the iGaming industry in Malta. The literature provides insight about how generations impact employee retention and through the use of Herzberg’s two-factor theory, identifies what kind of factors the strategies should focus on. In-depth interviews were conducted with nine HR professionals working within the iGaming industry to explore their perspective on the correlation between employee retention strategies and generations. Throughout the research, current employee retention strategies in place were identified and analysed against the needs of the different generations. The results acknowledged that each of the generations impact employee retention in many different ways and identified different employee retention strategies that need to be implemented. This study also provides recommendations that can be used by employers to enable the retention of a more multigenerational workforce. |
