Abstract: The research studies the potential of Malta becoming a 6-star destination and what it would entail to reach this ideal. Plans are already underway for Malta to host it’s first 6-star hotel. Through a qualitative approach by means of a series of in-debt face to face interviews, key figures in the industry are asked to extend their views on Malta hosting 6-star accommodation, on the potential of Malta becoming a 6-star destination, on the carrying capacity of the island and what they believe should be done over the next few years. Throughout the course of gathering data, it became apparent that Malta has vast potential should one want to pursue the idea of becoming a 6-star destination. It was pointed out however that much is needed to be done to reach this goal. The study offers the researcher’s recommendations of more research in certain areas along with recommendations to the government and stakeholders in the industry.
