Abstract: This research was meant to find out what are the motivational techniques used by management in 5 star Hotels on Maltese Islands and in what level they influence employees. Moreover, thanks to this research level of motivation of employees was measured and a theoretical model was developed for management to increase the level of motivation of their subordinates. To arrive to the conclusion, qualitative method was used and was supported by quantitative method. The study reveals that motivation of employees is mostly influenced by recognition and their own personal objectives and chosen career path. Therefore, management was suggested to recognise individuals and their work objectives or career path and help them to fulfill their goals. These will assure higher motivation of team members. Moreover, it was recommended for HR management to give more authority to head departments and shift leaders to motivate their team, perhaps to implement this model. This is due to large amount of employees in hospitality organisations. This will assure that more focus will be given to team members objectives.
