Abstract: This dissertation has the aim of developing a distinction between two prominent Labour leaderships. These are the leaderships of Tony Blair and Jeremy Corbyn. It shall also outline the differences in the ideology deployed by both leaders, and how this affected the party, those within it, and the popularity of the party with the electorate. Comparative analysis has been used to assess the impact two forces, being the trade unions and the media, had on the party and both leaderships. It made use of interviews with local politicians which enriched the study with their valued opinions. Nevertheless, one of the major limitations was that interviews with British politicians were not possible. However, the study conducted was able to assess the way the party's relationship with its membership has developed, the evolution of the trade unions' relationship with the party along with the effect the relationship between the media and the leadership has had on the party. The questions raised on the issues occurring due to the multiple forces surrounding the leadership will be tackled in multiple chapters, but will ultimately be answered in the Conclusion chapter, which seeks to clarify the dilemma surrounding the Labour leaderships regarding the best possible approach that would make the majority of the electorate vote for the party. The study will come to a close in this chapter, as the researcher will point out three possible scenarios for Labour to become electorally successful in the foreseeable future.
