Abstract: The aim of this dissertation was to explore the benefits of using ICT as an educational tool when teaching Mathematics to young children. Three teachers from a State School and one teacher from an Independent School, who were teaching in Year 2, were interviewed. The teachers were asked about their views on the use of ICT when teaching Mathematics to young children. Moreover, through the interviews, I was able to identify the ICT resources that were being used in their Year 2 classrooms when teaching Mathematics. Following the interviews, the four teachers were observed implementing a Mathematics lesson related to concepts of Number. The observations were carried out to find out how the use of ICT was being used in the teaching of Mathematics and the children's engagement when using ICT. As seen from the observations, it was clear that the children were enthusiastic when using ICT, which led them to being attentive throughout the lesson. A resource pack consisting of fifteen games and activities dealing with concepts of Number was also created by myself and given to all four teachers. The teachers gave feedback about the activities and games included in the resource pack. Overall, the research showed that if teachers are given appropriate training and ICT resources are appropriately used, the use of ICT can lead to a better learning experience for young children.
